TIMM'S BMW E38 KEY PROGRAMMING

 

This is quite simple.....but still foxed me for a while. This is how it's done......now the important bit is that when you insert the key in the ignition lock you are starting a new code, you need to program BOTH KEYS at the same time. If you just program the new one the old one will stop working. So, this exercise is for TWO keys:

The key has three buttons:



Open the car as usual. Shut the door (with you inside, please pay attention).

Put the first key in the ignition
Turn it to position I
Turn back and remove the key

Press button 1 and hold down while...
...pressing button 3 THREE times
Release button 1

The doors should now all lock....and then open again. If this does not happen start all over again.

Take the second key (within 30 seconds of the last sequence)
Press button 1 and hold down while...
...pressing button 3 THREE times
Release button 1

The doors should now all lock....and then open again.
